Anyone wishing to consult the Banque de France's historical archives should contact the Archives Division directly, indicating the objective of their research (reason, subject, period), either by email at email@example.com or by letter to the following address:
The researcher will receive a response from the Banque de France's archivists with a list of references likely to be of interest or of archived documents that could provide a response to the query. The references communicated are those selected in accordance with the restrictions imposed by the legislation in force with regard to public access to public archives. During the researcher's first visit, he or she will be able to expand on the references given by consulting the records available in the reading room.
The archives are kept at the head office of the Banque de France at 9 rue Driant, 75001, Paris (Palais Royal or Bourse metro stations). The reading room is opened on appointment only, Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Researchers are requested to contact the Archives service either by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or telephone (+33 (0)1 42 92 92 13 or +33 (0)1 42 92 46 96) to arrange an appointment, and are advised to do so at least one week before wishing to visit. The researcher will be sent the terms and conditions for consulting documents in the reading room.
