Securities issues by French residents - 2025-Q4

The share of French securities held by non-residents increased in 2025
  • At end-2025, the share of securities issued by French residents and held by non-residents was 55% (after 53% in 2024 and 51% in 2023).


  • In 2025, the share of non-resident holding of long-term debt increased for securities issued by general government (from 52.8% at the end of 2024 to 54.6% at the end of 2025) and non-financial corporations (from 59.4% to 62%), it increased slightly for securities issued by banks (from 70.1% to 71.2%).


  • The share of France in the euro area gross issues decreased down to 29% in 2025, after 31% in 2024. French non-financial corporations continue to account for a large share of euro area issuance (46% in 2025).
