Training and sharing of experiences
Live events, in-person in Paris or online
Each year, IBFI organises more than 40 training seminars for nearly 3,000 foreign participants. These training seminars are free of charge and cover all central bank functions. They include both theoretical and practical presentations, role-playing exercises and case studies, particularly at in-person events. The topics covered vary depending on the needs of IBFI's foreign partners.
E-learning
IBFI has set up e-learning courses based on video recordings of past seminars, combined with presentation materials and quizzes, which lead to the awarding of training certificates. These courses can be accessed once an account has been created and cover most of the topics relating to central banking.
Replays
The IBFI has also set up a library of videos and presentation materials produced by experts from the Banque de France and the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution. Employees of foreign central banks and other similar institutions can register to access these IBFI digital resources
Benchmarks
Surveys are conducted among participants at most IBFI events. They cover the latest trends in central banking. The results are shared and made public: these are the benchmarks.

Technical cooperation
Technical missions and multilateral cooperation programmes
IBFI is the Banque de France's central contact point for all of its technical cooperation activities aimed at foreign central banks and public institutions. Banque de France experts are sent to countries on technical assistance missions within the framework of the programmes of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD – French Development Agency) and multilateral cooperation programmes, notably those run by the IMF, the World Bank and the European Union.
At the European level, technical assistance missions can be grouped and structured under a twinning arrangement whereby a central bank and beneficiary institution work together on predefined objectives and actions.
As part of the IMF's programmes, the Banque de France provides assistance to foreign central banks by sending resident advisers for one or more years, mainly in the field of banking supervision.
Study visits
IBFI coordinates the hosting of study visits by foreign delegations that wish to exchange views with staff at the Banque de France and the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR – Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority). By enabling the sharing of expertise and promoting the Banque de France's know-how, these visits strengthen relations with central banks around the world and contribute to monetary and financial stability.
