The Banque de France publishes a range of monthly and quarterly economic surveys that provide a snapshot of the French economy in the form of business climate indicators and short-term forecasts.
The Banque de France conducts its surveys via its network of regional branches. Its monthly surveys on retail trade and on the manufacturing, services and construction sectors - published at the start of each month - are based on responses from some 10,000 business leaders. They provide an assessment of economic conditions in the month preceding the publication, together with a GDP growth forecast for the quarter.
The bank also publishes a quarterly survey on the civil engineering, along with a report on French firms ‘ access to credit (some of these are available in French only).
A regional summary is published online each month (French only).
Responding to the unprecedented situation resulting from the COVID-19 virus, the Banque de France has made changes to the way it uses and presents the results of its monthly business survey (MBS) in manufacturing industry, market services and construction.
