Monthly review for commercial paper and medium-term note market - December 2024

The total amount outstanding on the NEU CP and NEU MTN market stood at €340.7bn in December 2024 (up by €3.8bn year-on-year). This increase is attributable to the NEU CP segment (+€6.1bn), while at the same time the NEU MTN segment remained slightly down (-€2.3bn over one year).
In December 2024, NEU CP issuance fell, particularly in the financial sector, including ABCP issuers (€79.6bn vs. €81.4bn the previous month) and the corporate sector (€17bn vs. €20bn in November 2024). The public sector significantly increased its issuance (€18.7bn vs. €11bn in November 2024).
In terms of issuance conditions, December saw a decrease in issue yields across all maturities for all categories of issuer. Yield curves kept an inverted profile.
