The rapid advancement of financial technology is transforming traditional financial markets worldwide. While developed economies are experiencing incremental improvements, emerging markets have the unique opportunity to leapfrog legacy systems and implement cutting-edge solutions. Moldova, with its nascent financial sector, stands at a crucial junction where thoughtful implementation of new technologies could accelerate financial market development and inclusion. Artificial Intelligence and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) are redesigning core financial functions from payment systems to market infrastructure. How can emerging economies leverage these technologies to build robust, efficient, and inclusive financial markets? What lessons can be learned from both successes and failures in other markets? How should regulatory frameworks evolve to support innovation while ensuring stability?

The 1st annual international conference jointly organized by the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), the National Bank of Romania (NBR) and the Banque de France (BdF) will focus on the opportunities and challenges of implementing modern financial technology in emerging markets, with special attention to the unique circumstances of Eastern European economies.

The one-day event will feature keynotes, policy panels, and presentations of research papers in a blended on-line/on-site format.

The organizing committee invites submissions in the following areas (non-exhaustive):

  • AI applications in market surveillance and risk management for emerging markets
