Banque de France Conference on Monetary Policy 2026

The Banque de France is organizing the second edition of its Conference on Monetary Policy on 9–10 November 2026 in Paris. Keynote speaker: Peter Karadi (European Central Bank).

Central banks face renewed challenges in conducting monetary policy amid heightened uncertainty, supply-side shocks, and constraints on fiscal policy. These developments raise important questions about how monetary policy is transmitted through the financial system, how central bank communication shapes expectations, and how inflation propagates across the economy. At the same time, the design of monetary policy strategies and operational frameworks remains central to ensuring effective monetary policy implementation.

The conference brings together leading researchers from academia, central banks, and other policy institutions to present and discuss recent theoretical and empirical research on these issues. Topics include bank-based monetary transmission, central bank communication, inflation in production networks, fiscal constraints, the role of central bank reserves, and the systematic conduct of monetary policy.
