Up to 31 December 2013, France's balance of payments (BoP) and international investment position (IIP) were compiled in accordance with the fifth edition of the Balance of Payments Manual. The Manual sets the international standards for BoP and IIP statistics and is released under the aegis of the International Monetary Fund.
For its January 2014 statistics, the Banque de France will begin publishing monthly data using the guidelines set out in the sixth edition of the Manual.
The methodology implemented by the Banque de France for the balance of payments and international investment position is part of the Eurosystem's and European Union's statistical framework.
The ECB and Eurostat will begin publishing b.o.p. and i.i.p. data and international reserves statistics in accordance with BPM6, methodology in the final quarter of 2014. By that time, all EU countries will have switched to BPM6, and most will have published national BPM6 data. France began publishing BPM6 data as of March 19 2014, for the month of January, 2014.
