Banque de France’s banknote manufacturing is pleased to announce the signature of a License agreement for its very-high durability solution EverFit® with the UK-headquartered company Portals Paper Ltd., one of the world’s leading suppliers of banknote and security paper.
EverFit® is a technology that addresses demanding circulation environments, enabling issuance costs savings for Central Banks.
It has been developed by the Banque de France’s Printing Works, through several years of intensive research and development. This technology results from the combination of a specific paper formula, a highly adhesive film and optimal lamination conditions on a dedicated machine.
It has been first released in Madagascar in 2014, and has now been proven thanks to more than 500 million banknotes issued over 7 different denominations in several countries, showing up to 4-times improved soil resistance compared to standard varnished paper banknotes.
Through its Licensing program, which is offered to all Paper Mills and Printing Works, the Banque de France commits itself to allow this very high durability solution to become available to any issuing authority.
With a strong history of over 200 years in the banknote industry, the Banque de France has an internationally recognised expertise in the field of banknote production. Its production tool is made up of a paper mill and a printing works based in the center of France since the early twentieth century.
