Amsterdam, 5 April 2018
On Friday, April the 6th, the first ever International Climate Risk Conference for Supervisors will be held in Amsterdam. The Conference is organized by DNB, the Banque de France/ACPR and the Bank of England, under the aegis of the Central Banks and Supervisor Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS).
There will be key note speakers, panel sessions and workshops, where supervisors from over 30 countries and from more than 50 supervisory organizations will discuss how climate and environment related risks could affect our financial institutions, and thus the mandate
of financial supervisors.
The NGFS will help to strengthen the global response required to meet the goals of the Paris agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. It will also enhance the role of the financial system to manage climate and environmental risks and to mobilize capital for green and low-carbon investments in the broader context of environmentally sustainable development.
The day before the Conference, on April the 5th, NGFS Members meet to take note of the advancement of the technical work and to exchange views on ways to accommodate an extended Membership.
The Network, over which Frank Elderson (DNB) presides, brings together the Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht (BaFin), the Banco de Mexico, the Bank of England, the Banque de France and Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), De Nederlandsche Bank, the Deutsche Bundesbank, the Swedish Finansinspektionen, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the People’s Bank of China and was launched at the Paris One Planet Summit on 12 December 2017. The Bank for International Settlements (the BIS) is an observer to the NGFS. The Banque de France provides the NGFS secretariat.
