“Structural reforms in the wake of recovery: Where do we stand?”
Madrid, 18-19 June 2015

Banco de España and the Banque de France co-organise the conference “Structural reforms in the wake of recovery: Where do we stand?” to be held in Madrid on 18-19 June 2015.

The goal of the conference is to bring together academics and practitioners to discuss the aggregate implications of structural reforms (including reforms in labor and product markets, fiscal frameworks, pension systems and insolvency procedures, among others).

The event is open to both theoretical and empirical analyses. Yann Algan (Sciences Po Paris), Jordi Galí (UPF), Luis Garicano (LSE) and Francesco Giavazzi (U. Bocconi) have confirmed their participation. The conference will include a policy panel.

The topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • The macroeconomic impact of structural reforms, both in the short and long run
  • The optimal timing of structural reforms
  • Interaction between structural reforms and macroeconomic policies
  • International spillovers of structural reforms
  • Case studies of particular structural reforms: ex ante and ex post evaluations
