Conférence Banque de France « The Financial Crisis:Lessons for International Macroeconomics » Paris, 28-29 octobre 2011

The Paris School of Economics, the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, the Banque de France, ECARES and CEPR will host a conference on 'The Financial Crisis: Lessons for International Macroeconomics.' The conference will be held in Paris on October 28-29, 2011.

The organizers welcome submissions of a theoretical or empirical nature related to the theme of the conference. Suitable topics include:

1. The Euro Debt crisis

  • Sovereign default, bailouts and moral hazard in a monetary union
  • Real and nominal convergence in a monetary union
  • Fiscal dimensions of regional and global financial crises
  • The political economy of debt crises and policy responses

2. The global economy during and after the crisis

  • Liquidity contractions
  • Global imbalances
  • Fiscal spillovers in a global crisis
  • Shock propagation via financial linkages

3. Policy after the crisis

  • International policy cooperation
  • Currency wars or cooperation in exchange rate policies
  • Global aspects of policy responses to the crisis
  • Macro-prudential policies after the global crisis
  • Financial regulation, stability and growth

Conference papers will be considered for publication in the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics under an expedited review schedule and subject to the Journal’s usual standards for quality and insight. The deadline for applying is 18:00 GMT on July 15, 2011. Authors will be notified of the final program by August 15, 2011.
